Lahore experienced an extreme heatwave on the third day of Eid-ul-Adha 2025, with temperatures soaring to 46°C, making it one of the hottest days the city has seen in nearly two decades.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), this marks Lahore’s highest temperature in almost 20 years. The previous record was set in 2007, when Lahore Airport reported a scorching 48°C (118.4°F).

Heatwave Grips Multiple Regions in Pakistan

The ongoing heatwave is not limited to Lahore. Several other parts of Pakistan are facing dangerously high temperatures, putting millions at risk of heat-related illnesses.

The PMD has warned that the extreme heat is expected to continue through mid-June 2025, offering little relief for residents.

Temperature Updates Across Major Cities

  • Islamabad and Peshawar are expected to reach 44°C.
  • Quetta recorded a temperature of 36°C.
  • Karachi remained relatively cooler at 34°C.
  • Dera Ghazi Khan and Jacobabad reported the highest temperatures at 49°C.
  • Sargodha and Sibi followed closely at 48°C.
  • Cities like Gujranwala and Jhelum also experienced extreme heat, recording 47°C.

Authorities Issue Heatwave Alerts

Officials have issued multiple heatwave alerts, urging citizens to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak hours, and take necessary precautions to prevent heatstroke.

As the heatwave continues, healthcare services are on high alert to manage possible medical emergencies caused by the soaring temperatures.
