Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced four major global initiatives at the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg, highlighting that India’s civilisational values can guide the world toward inclusive and sustainable development.
India Proposes Four New Global Development Initiatives
During the session on inclusive and sustainable growth, PM Modi introduced four key proposals designed to boost global cooperation and shared progress. These include:
1. Global Traditional Knowledge Repository
This new platform will collect, document, and preserve traditional wisdom, especially knowledge that promotes sustainable living, health, and well-being.
PM Modi said India’s ancient heritage offers powerful lessons for healthier and more balanced living, making it essential to preserve this knowledge for future generations.
2. Africa Skills Multiplier Initiative
Calling Africa’s development crucial for global stability, PM Modi announced a major skill-development program based on a train-the-trainer model.
The goal:
-
Train 1 million certified trainers in Africa within the next decade
-
These trainers will then educate millions of young people, creating a strong talent pipeline and strengthening Africa’s long-term development.
3. G20 Global Healthcare Response Team
PM Modi proposed creating an international team of trained medical professionals ready for rapid deployment during health emergencies and natural disasters.
He said countries are always stronger when they act together in moments of crisis.
4. G20 Initiative on Countering the Drug-Terror Nexus
Highlighting the global threat of drug trafficking and dangerous substances like fentanyl, PM Modi urged G20 nations to unite against the drug-terror economy.
He suggested combining financial, legal, and security tools to weaken global drug networks and stop terror funding.
India Emphasizes Global Solidarity and Shared Growth
PM Modi reiterated that India has always stood with Africa, supported global health cooperation, and continues to lead major initiatives that encourage sustainable development, capacity building, and international security.
These proposals, he said, reflect Indian values of partnership, progress, and collective strength—principles that can help shape a more resilient world.
