A major breakthrough occurred in Bijapur as 103 Maoists surrendered to authorities. They handed over weapons and ammunition valued at over Rs 1 crore, officials confirmed on Friday.
Incentives for Surrender
The surrendered Maoists have now joined mainstream society. Each received a cheque of Rs 50,000 under the government’s rehabilitation program, said Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) P. Sundarraj.
Gun Battle in Kanker
On September 28, a gunfight in Kanker district left three Maoists dead, including one woman cadre. The clash happened in the forested hills of Chhindkhadak village, under Kanker police limits.
A joint operation by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) from Kanker and Gariaband, with Border Security Force (BSF) support, targeted Maoist hideouts.
SSP Kanker, I K Elesela, stated that two male Maoists and one female Maoist were killed. One of them carried a bounty of Rs 14 lakh.
