The Chhattisgarh government, led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, is set to roll out an extensive plan for the observance of ‘Sewa Pakhwada’, a fortnight-long public service initiative, from September 17 to October 2. The initiative coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17 and culminates on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary on October 2.

Nationwide Participation and Government Involvement

Multiple state departments, government organisations, and local bodies will participate in this campaign, organizing programs and services aimed at improving the lives of citizens across Chhattisgarh.

Chief Minister Sai emphasized, “‘Sewa Pakhwada’ will include various activities and services for the people of Chhattisgarh. Every government department and organisation has prepared specific plans to serve the public.”

The campaign will officially begin with PM Modi inaugurating the event in neighboring Madhya Pradesh, setting the tone for the fortnight of service across the state.

Key Activities Planned During Sewa Pakhwada

Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma outlined several initiatives aimed at reaching remote villages and improving community welfare:

  • Statewide cleanliness drives to promote hygiene

  • Medical and blood donation camps for health support

  • Village-level services, such as issuing driving licenses to youth

  • Conflict resolution initiatives between local gram panchayats

Deputy CM Sharma highlighted the inspiration drawn from PM Modi, stating, “Meeting PM Modi always brings fresh energy. He constantly encourages service to the people, and this campaign is a reflection of his vision.”

PM Modi’s Influence on Leaders

Cabinet Minister Kedar Kashyap expressed admiration for PM Modi’s qualities, particularly his commitment, determination, and time management, which continue to inspire leaders in Chhattisgarh.

PM Modi’s Visit to Madhya Pradesh

During the launch, PM Modi will visit Dhar, a tribal-majority district in Madhya Pradesh. He will:

  • Flag off various public service initiatives

  • Lay the foundation stone for ‘PM MITRA Park’, a project aimed at developing the state as a textile hub

This visit highlights the central government’s focus on inclusive development and empowering rural communities through direct services.
