A Panjab University (PU) employee<\/strong> allegedly killed his 65-year-old mother<\/strong> at their home in Sector 40-D, Chandigarh<\/strong>, on Diwali morning. The accused, Ravinder Singh Negi (Ravi), 40<\/strong>, reportedly stabbed his mother 16 times<\/strong> with a kitchen knife, and she died instantly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Neighbor Akash Bains<\/strong>, who filed the complaint, said he was having tea when he heard loud screams<\/strong> from Ravinder\u2019s house. He, along with other neighbors, tried the main door but found it locked from inside<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe climbed through the terrace and saw Sushila lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Moments later, Ravinder came out, his clothes soaked in blood,\u201d Akash said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n He immediately called the 112 helpline<\/strong>, and police reached the scene within minutes. They also recovered the knife<\/strong> used in the attack.<\/p>\n After the attack, Ravinder ran from the house<\/strong>. Police arrested him in Sonepat, Haryana<\/strong>, a few hours later. He has been sent to judicial custody<\/strong> at Model Jail, Burail<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Police filed a murder case<\/strong> under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)<\/strong> at Sector 39 police station<\/strong>. They will also check Ravinder\u2019s mental health<\/strong> during the investigation.<\/p>\n Investigators said Sushila had been living with her younger son for several months. Her husband, Late Rajinder Singh Negi<\/strong>, had passed away years ago, and her elder son lives separately in Sector 41<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Ravinder\u2019s wife and daughter<\/strong> left him six months ago due to his violent and unstable behavior<\/strong>. Police said he had been treated at mental health facilities<\/strong> before and often suffered fits and sudden outbursts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Sushila had also sought help from priests and faith healers<\/strong>, hoping to calm her son\u2019s aggressive behavior.<\/p>\n On Diwali morning, Ravinder had a heated argument<\/strong> with his mother. In anger, he grabbed a kitchen knife<\/strong> and attacked her repeatedly<\/strong>.
